Accomplished Tree Management takes you through the process of removing a tree.
If your tree meets the 3 Ds - Dead, Diseased, (potentially) Dangerous, then it needs to be removed.
We always recommend the process be done by professional and qualified arborists. It's a dangerous process, so never attempt to remove a tree on your own. Also, you cannot simply remove a tree because you wish to. Trees are protected by the law and removing one without council consent could land you a heavy fine. That is why a professional arborist can guide you through the legal requirements.
At Accomplished Tree Management, safety is our top priority i.e. safety for our arborists, for people in the vicinity, for the greenery and the infrastructure surrounding it. The process of removing a tree will also vary depending on the type of tree, its size and location.
Step 1: Assessment
We assess the tree and its environment. We note any potential obstacle or hazards e.g. telephone wires, electrical cables or difficult to access areas. We cordon off the area we are working on so there are no people, cars or other properties that could be damaged in the process.
Step 2: Setting things UP TO REMOVE TREES
We have specialised equipment and tools we use to scale the tree or remove branches or green waste. Arborists go through special training to learn to use these tools.
Step 3: Dismantle the tree
The canopy and branches need to be removed first and we use equipment such as a chainsaw to do that. After that, we use wood chippers to break these down.
Step 4: Cut and fell the trunk
Now that the tree is clear of the extra bits and only the trunk is left, we proceed to cut it. If the tree is very big and in an awkward location, we take the necessary time to cut the trunk in sections. Otherwise we fell the trunk directly. We always conduct a safety check to decide which method to use.
Step 5: Clear the waste
Tree removal is messy business. We often have clients comment how appreciative they are that we do a thorough job of clearing and tidying up after we are done. It's all about the respect we have towards what we do. We want to leave things better than we found it.
Step 6: Stump removal
This is another process that requires skill, experience and special equipment. We assess the stump and also consult our clients before we begin the stump removal process. Learn more about stump removal here and check out a 'recipe' we have for using the leftovers from stump grinding to make mulch!
Step 7: Final check
One last inspection to make sure everything is in order before we leave. And always a chat with our clients to ensure everything is as they have wished.
